DIRECTIONS

From the Newmarket Town Hall take a right onto Beech Street Extension 0.3 to the stop sign. Cross Elm Street and continue on Beech Street 0.2 miles then turn right on Salmon St. Follow for 0.3 miles then turn right on Piscassic Street. Follow until you arrive at the cul-de-sac. Parking near kiosk and in the center of the cul-de-sac.

DESCRIPTION: 

The 2.5-acre Sliding Rock Conservation and Recreation area, includes the Piscassic Street Boat Launch. It was donated to the Town of Newmarket in 1979 by Mr. Walter Cheney when he developed the surrounding area. A ¼-mile loop trail offers a scenic walk under tall pine and hemlock, leading to an overlook where the Piscassic River meets the Lamprey River. The park, boat launch, and other amenities are managed by the Town of Newmarket.

  • Carry In-Carry Out personal items and trash
  • Respect abutting landowners
  • Remove private watercraft when not in use
  • Please keep dogs under control and remove dog waste
  • Avoid, smoking, alcohol, fires, and loud noise
  • NO bicycles, motorized vehicles, and horseback riding on trails
  • NO camping or overnight use
  • NO disturbance or collecting of plants, animals, historical, or cultural features
