Abatement Guidlines

If a reason exits that a customer does not believe the amount due is valid and wishes to have it reviewed, they must file an abatement request with 180 days of the billing date. The Director of Water/Sewer upon receipt of request will review requests for abatement. The request for abatement will be reviewed according to the following criteria:

  • Errors in meter reading
  • Meter malfunctions
  • Errors in billing

Abatement requests that are denied may be appealed by the owner to the Town Administrator. An appeal to the Town Administrator must be submitted in writing.
