NEWMARKET TOWN COUNCIL

BUSINESS MEETING Non-Public

January 27, 2010

TOWN COUNCIL CHAMBERS

6:00 P.M.

Councilor Daniel Dickens

Administrator Ed Wojnowski

Motion made by Dan Dickens seconded by Eric Botterman to enter into non-public session under RSA 91-A:3 II (d).

Motion was adopted unanimously.

1).        The Chairman turned over the meeting to the Town Administrator who noted that the Council had received an offer for the Old DPW building on Route 152 from the Eagles for $150,000.  In addition, the  Town held an offer from Whispering Pines, animal crematorium for a proposal of  $232,000.  After some discussion,  the Council agreed to award the bid to Whispering Pines.

2).        The Town is in receipt of correspondence from Mark Stevens, of Conway Associates, relative to the railroad crossing at Forbes Road, the Industrial Park.  The letter indicated that they would like to continue negotiations for the construction of the railroad crossing.  The town would be responsible for future long-term maintenance.  After discussion it was agreed that the Town Administrator will set up a meeting for he and the Chair to meet with Mark Stevens and George Conway to open the door relative to moving forward with discussions on the construction of the railroad crossing.

3).        The Chairman reviewed with the members of the Council the current status of negotiations with the Police Department relative to a pay increase.  After much discussion, the Police Union noted that they will be willing to study it and may come back with an alternative proposal.   

There being no further business, a motion by Dan Dickens and seconded by Eric Botterman to leave Non-public session.  Motion was adopted unanimously.  Council came out of non-public at 9:25.  Eric Botterman moved and seconded by Dan Dickens to adjourn.

Meeting was adjourned at 9:25.
