Statement from the Town of Newmarket on the Passing of Newmarket State Representative Marcia Moody

It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of State Representative Marcia Moody. Representative Moody was a passionate public servant serving the people of the Town of Newmarket and House District Rockingham 17 for years. She dedicated her life towards improving the lives of the people of Newmarket, Newfields and the State of New Hampshire. Our thoughts are with Representative Moody’s loved ones and we join them in mourning her passing.

Newmarket – Marcia G. Moody, 80, Rockingham County, District 17 State Representative, died at her home in Newmarket on May 25, 2016 after a period of declining health.

Born November 22, 1935 in Elgin, Illinois, she was the daughter of Evert Elof Moody and Harriett (Bahrens) Moody. She was a graduate of the R.J. Reynolds High School in Winston Salem, North Carolina and she received her BA in 1959 from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Marcia was elected District 17 State Representative in 2004 and has served six terms served in that position.

She had no family but was surrounded by many faithful friends and colleagues. She loved to travel and remained in touch with a network of former colleagues from the Army and Air Force Exchange Service where she was employed from 1969 to 1995 in advertising and merchandizing, worldwide.

At Marcia’s request there will be a Graveside Service on Tuesday, May 31st at 11 a.m. in Riverside Cemetery, Newmarket (corner of Elm Street & Packers Falls Road).
