Municipal Audit Committee

Meeting January 27, 2009

Councilor Kwaks opened the meeting by discussing an issue that was brought to her attention in which cash was accepted at the town Transfer Station.  As this is against the town policy, Councilor Kwaks felt that an investigation should take place to determine the frequency of this occurrence and if the Town’s assets were at risk as a result. 

Councilor Kwaks informed the Committee that she asked the Town Administrator to perform an investigation of this issue but had not been given an update of the details and results of that investigation.  The Committee agreed that Councilor Kwaks should ask the Town Administrator at the next Town Council meeting to provide a report to the Town Council on the results of that investigation.

The Committee agreed that the next meeting should encompass a review of the results of the Melanson Heath Audit before it is presented to the Town Council.  Additionally, the Committee would like the Finance Director t provide an update on the audit.

The meeting was then adjourned.
