BOAT
REGISTRATIONS & RENEWALS
The Newmarket Town Clerk is a “Registered NH Boat Agent.”
For your convenience, we are able to register or renew boats for any New Hampshire boat owner -- not only Newmarket residents -- here at the Town Hall (additional fee of $1.50 is added to each registration).
PLEASE NOTE : By registering or renewing your Boat in Newmarket, the Town is able to retain 100% of the “Boat Fee” portion of the registration, which would otherwise be paid to the State (RSA 72-A:5). The remaining “Registration Fee” portion is remitted to the State of New Hampshire.
Boat registrations expire annually on December 31. The State of New Hampshire mails renewal registrations to owners in the late fall of each year. (Note: We will be able to process 2008 Boat registrations beginning November 6, 2007.)
To renew your registration, you may simply bring the State of NH renewal form to the Town Clerk's Office. You may also choose to mail the renewal form to the State. Please be aware, however, if you mail your renewal to the State, the Town will not receive the "Boat Fee" portion of the registration revenue--all revenue will be retained by the State, and "...the fee shall be deposited in the navigation safety fund established under RSA 270-E:6-a." (RSA 72-A:5).
