Minutes of Cemetery Trustee meeting

January 27, 2010

Present: Karl Gilbert, Edward Pelczar, Michael Pelczar

Absent: Michael Provost

Minutes of the Sept. 23, 2009 meeting were approved as written.

Ed Pelczar reported that the oak tree had been removed from the inside of the cemetery. Animals had started nesting in the trunk so it needed to be removed. The Cemetery Trustees goals for this year include finishing the repairs in the Old Town Cemetery, and repair the two or three stones in Riverside that need repairing.

Ed Pelczar reported that the Cemetery Trustees request for $5,000 in the Town Budget for 2010-2011 was included in the Budget, under Grants.

Ed Pelczar wanted to review the Rules & Regulations for Riverside Cemetery. Under Monument & Markers he wanted to add section “ G: No monument or marker shall be placed on any grave or graves unless all burial fees, perpetual care fees, and cemetery fees, are paid in full.”  Presently if someone were to purchase a grave or graves and they wanted to make payments, they could have a monument or marker installed before they fully paid for the graves and related fees. Section G would eliminate this and any other possible problems that could arise. Motion by K. Gilbert, second by M. Pelczar and approved by all Trustees to add Section G.

In January of 2006 the Cemetery Trustees approved a purchase price of $550 per grave in Riverside Cemetery. After some discussion it was decided to increase the purchase price of a single grave in Riverside Cemetery to $600. Motion by K. Gilbert, second by M. Pelczar and approved by all Trustees.

Ed reported that M. Provost attended the Eagle Scout presentation for James Rosa and Mike wrote a certification of appreciation from the Cemetery Trustees. It was a great job, well done!

It was decided that the Trustees would not meet in February. Our next meeting is scheduled for March 24, 2010.

Meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Ed Pelczar
