On August 5th, 2009, the Newmarket Town Council adopted new water and sewer rates.

WATER & SEWER RATE CHANGE

On August 5, 2009 the Newmarket Town Council adopted new water and sewer rates. The new rates are as follows:

• Water users will be billed a $6.00 per unit system charge each quarter plus $3.85/100 cubic feet of water consumed.

• Sewer users will be billed a $6.00 per unit system charge each quarter plus $5.10/100 cubic feet of sewer discharged.

• Customers with meters that are broken or malfunctioning will be billed based on previous water and sewer bills.

Example Water & Sewer Bill

Single Unit Customer uses 1000 cubic feet of water

(1000 cubic feet of water equals 10 hundred cubic feet or 7,480 gallons of water)

Water Bill = $6.00 system charge + ($3.85 times 10 hundred cubic feet of water)= $44.50

Sewer Bill = $6.00 system charge + ($5.10 times 10 hundred cubic feet of water)= $57.00

Total Water & Sewer Bill = $101.50

Cost per gallon of water including system charge = $0.006 per gallon

Cost per gallon of sewer including system charge = $0.008 per gallon
