Here is the market update for this Saturday, July 24.
Our lovely market can be found at the Stone Church every Saturday from now through Columbus Day weekend, Oct 9. The Stone Church is located at 5 Granite Street in Newmarket. The market hours are: 9:00am – 1:00pm.
Our new venue continues to amaze me. Tucked in between the Stone Church & the Newmarket Historical Society. It is a lovely spot for the market and it leaves the entire Stone Church parking lot available for customer parking!
Our farmers will have wonderful vegetables this week:
TOMATOES! BLACKBERRIES!
Healthy Home Harvest, the Hollister Family Farm, Wild Miller Gardens, and South Brook Farm will be bringing us a great selection of tomatoes, zucchini, summer squash, onions, garlic, 3 different types of eggplant, and peppers (both sweet & hot). Stop by their booth if you want to see some of the most gorgeous colors the vegetable world has to offer. Their tomatoes are truly delicious.
Stephanie Hollisterwill have some of her lovely flower arrangements at the market as well!
Also providing us with flowers will be Dale Micherone. Dale will have beautiful, seasonal arrangements for you to choose from. Ask Dale about providing flowers for any events you are planning.
Healthy Home Harvest will have some of their locally grown gourmet mushrooms available for you to enjoy. Take the time to talk with Dr. Tomato about mushroom, tomatoes… and or any gardening questions you may have.

Hickory Nut Farm’s cheese will include caraway select and Chebar. Their newest firm cheese - Chebar - is aged in sea salt in our cheese cave. It is terrific and reminds us of a unique parmesan - it is popular. The Caraway Select goes great with cole slaw, on simple salads, in omelets, on steamed leafy vegetables. The Chebar is terrific grated on a simple spaghetti sauce or just plain pasta, is terrific as a stand alone, and dynamic on salads. (You can also melt their homemade fudge and pour it over strawberries & ice cream…) And, of course, keep an eye out for their baby goat, Mr. McNut at the market.
Hickory Nut Farm is also known for their soaps! Their scallop shaped soap has, “a masculine ocean scent of fresh air and citrus leading to a sense of sea kelp, champagne and salt air.” Add one of their lovely goat’s milk soaps to your daily regime.
Did you know that Kevin of Agape Homestead Farm has rotisserie chicken available at the market? Place an order in the morning and pop back to pick up a warm, delectable lunch! Kevin will also have the 1st raspberry jam of the season with him… as well as a variety of spreadable goat cheeses and feta marinated in a mixture of his own herbs.
My favorite recipe for Kevin’s cheese is to take his marinated feta and toss it with hot pasta. SO good!
Sweet Baby Vineyardwill be back at the market this Saturday! Try one of their wines made with 100% NH grown strawberries, raspberries, apples or peaches!
For more information on their wines go to: http://www.sweetbabyvineyard.com/wines.html
While you’re at the market consider staying for a while. Hang out in the Café on the patio, or the tables under the trees. Grab a cup of locally roasted iced coffee, pastry, or fresh blueberries. Sit & enjoy the live music, or chat with your friends.
Visit Red Rover Coffee Roasting for amazing locally roasted coffee! This just in… from the New Arrivals section of their website:
“Just like any agricultural crop, each coffee growing region has a season for its crop. And when you work with smaller lots of specialty coffees as we do, these coffees have an ebb and flow.
Flowing in now is a new coffee from Burundi, as well as a decaffeinated Ethiopian Sidamo. These will be replacing our current Burundi: Bwayi Lot 2, and Decaf Sumatra. Also coming into the mix is a new coffee from the Boquete region of Panama and the current year crop of our El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve coffee from Chiapas, Mexico.”
Sweet Melissa will be back at the market this week and will have a great selection baked goods. This week they will be featuring, “Fruit in Season”! Try one of their pielettes. They will have strawberry/raspberry/rhubarb and blueberry to chose from. They will also have their crowd pleasing Cinnamon Beasts, scones, and several varieties of flatbread. Try their flatbread with Swiss Chard… you will be pleasantly surprised. J
Speaking of sitting in the café, enjoying pastry & sipping iced coffee… check out the Music @ the Market this week:
9am – 1pm
Drew Szeliga (9am-11am) & Audrey Drake (11am-1pm) will be performing for us tomorrow! They are both great musicians who bring tremendous energy to the market.
Don’t forget… our musicians donate their time & talent when they play at the market. If you can, please put a little something in the tip jar!
Okay, okay… back to the food!
Steve Hurd of Hurd Farm will have eggs, all natural grass fed beef, chicken, and pork from Heritage breed pigs. Hurd Farm, in Hampton, is a 160 acre farm that has been run by the same family since 1923. Visit http://hurdfarm.com/ to learn more.
